 August 2, 2010 - "Elevate Your Elevator Speech – 30 Second Commercials"
Presented by: Phil Stella
Stella observes, “Most people use a variation on a ‘30 second commercial’ when they’re networking or looking for a job, but few people create these mini-introductions with focus and finesse.” The workshop will focus on how to improve your “elevator speech” and learn what to say and not to say and how to turn it into an engaging listener-driven message that jump-starts networking conversations.
Phil Stella of Effective Training & Communications, Inc., a popular speaker for Hudson Job Search for over 11 years, helps people become more competent, credible and comfortable when they network, lead meetings and interact with customers and colleagues. Prior to starting his company in 1990, Stella managed corporate communications and management training at Progressive Insurance. He is an active member of COSE, Sales & Marketing Executives, American Society for Training and Development and a volunteer with five area non-profit outplacement groups.
August 16, 2010 -  "Behavioral Interviewing: How to Effectively Tell Your Story to a Prospective Employer"
Presented By: Roger Steel
Roger Steel is Manager of Recruiting for JoAnn’s. He states “Behavioral interviewing is perhaps the best way to predict a candidate’s success in a new role. In this session, you’ll gain an understanding of what information interviewers seek and how candidates should best prepare for such an interview.” Behavioral interviewing allows the interviewer to understand what the job seeker has accomplished in the past and through practice with mock interviews, attendees will find out how best to present that information back during an interview.
Steel is a long-time Hudson resident and a product of the Hudson Schools. He holds a BA in Organizational Communications from the University of Akron. Roger has spent over 20 years in the recruiting industry with such companies as Roger’s Express and Progressive Insurance. He has been the Recruiting Manager at JoAnn’s since 2006.

The services of Hudson Job Search are made possible by
the generous financial support received from the Hudson churches,
Hudson-area foundations and Hudson social service organizations,
as well as the time, talent and gifts of many caring individuals...
