April 5, 2010 - "Using LinkedIn as a Job Hunting Resource"
Presented by: Jim Kuhn
Jim will discuss LinkedIn from the perspective of the job hunter, company recruiter, and business owner. He will show how to build a profile that effectively portrays YOU—and that attracts recruiters; also the advanced search function and how to network between connections.  Jim states that “LinkedIn as a job hunting resource is a wonderful tool, but not a substitution for personal relationship building through phone and face-to-face meetings.” Attendees are encouraged to go to www.linkedin.com and start building their professional profile before the meeting.
Jim Kuhn, is a 10 year Hudson resident, Hudson Job Search Advisor, 30 year Human Resource professional with experience in global recruiting and using all types of sourcing strategies and tactics, including the latest on-line professional networking tools. He currently is Vice-President of Human Resources at Life Line Screening.
April 19, 2010 -  "Compensation Negotiation: A Four Step Approach to Salary Negotiation"
Presented By: Mark Gonska
Mark Gonska will present the concept of return on investment. In order that the job seeker prepare for negotiating the best salary for a new job, the candidate should understand how to calculate and present this to a future employer. The prospective employee must understand what his or her value is to the employer in order to get paid what he or she is worth. This information is the focus of Gonska’s enlightening and entertaining presentation.
Developing and implementing strategies for the job seeker is a specialty of Mark Gonska. In working primarily with more than 6,000 executives and management level employees who have been terminated from their previous positions, he has helped them to obtain new positions or explore other career or entrepreneurial options.
Mark Gonska is Executive Vice President for Dise & Co, a former trustee for the Cleveland Society for Human Resource Management, holds national certification in resume writing, and is a contributor to the book The Five O’Clock Club Guide to Building a Great Resume.
Gonska has extensive background in communications, leadership coaching, and business management. He has experience in international marketing and product management with a Fortune 200 company. In addition, he participated in the successful start-up and development of a technology-based company.
